The Zia sun symbol was found at Zia Pueblo (New Mexico) on a 19th century pot. The symbol has sacred meaning to the Zia. Four is a sacred number which symbolizes the Circle of Life: four winds, four seasons, four directions, and four sacred obligations. The circle binds the four elements of four together.
Since mid 2008 I was searching for a logo that would fit with my site, its name and its content. So far nothing really satisfied me, but once I moved to New Mexico July 2010 and I saw the Zia Sun Symbol it instantly struck me. That's it! Once you look into my portfolio of the "Four Elements" you will understand what I mean. Besides, the name LightPalette is also represented with the Zia Sun Symbol. The sun and its light which I chase in the early morning and late afternoon to craft my photographs is exactly what defines my work - painting with the sun - heliography instead of photography.
